About The Position

Stamford Health is seeking a full-time Supervisor for our Central Sterile Processing team! The CSP Supervisor oversees daily assigned shift operation of the Central Processing Services performed at The Stamford Hospital. Responsible for the sterile and non-sterile aspects of operation for instruments, supplies and equipment. Provide input and support CSP manager with management of the labor and expense budgets. Provides direction and leadership to the functions of improving organizational performance, leadership, management of environment of care, management of human resources, management of information and surveillance, protection and control of infection Schedule: 37.5 hours a week. Monday-Friday 7:00 am - 3:00 pm

Requirements

  • Associate degree in business, operations management or related field or equivalent experience
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education/experience with concentration in Sterile Processing and Distribution Management in Central Service/Operating Room.
  • Knowledge: Management Experience in infection control, hazardous materials and waste applications CQI, contracts & cost analysis and knowledge of standards of JCAHO, CDC, EPA, AAMI, is preferred.
  • Certification in related field of service

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and training to staff in making appropriate decisions in prioritizing tasks.
  • Improvement of the organizational performance.
  • Participate in committees as assigned
  • Responsible for day-to-day problem resolution and assist the CSP manager with decision making on instrument and equipment procurement, staff recruitment and retention
  • Maintain required records and resources for Central Sterile Processing including IFU’s, MSDS, sterilization records etc according to all Environment of care & regulatory standards.
  • Delegation of all tasks and assignments- managing turnover and high priority items for surgery.
  • Provides staff leadership to include work allocation, scheduling, training, input on evaluation and problem resolution.
  • Coordinate Central Service activities and communication with the Operating Room, HSS, Emergency Department, Cardiovascular Unit, Labor and Delivery, Special Procedures, and Clinic areas to provide services promptly & efficiently.
  • Maintains inventory levels; facilitates ordering of supplies; coordinates the distribution and collection of sterile and non-sterile items; Maintains applicable department records and files
  • Establishes departmental work schedules and exercises independent judgment based on hospital wide needs. Attends OR Huddles and Forecast meetings
  • Responsible for the sterile process of all instrumentation, equipment, and staff education so to provide safe products used in the care and treatment of patients.
  • Implements and recommends changes to improve operational effectiveness; promotes continuous improvement in workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Coordinates with Dept Educator departmental orientation and training programs pertaining to products and services lines.
  • Ensures compliance with hospital policies and procedures pertaining to the cleaning, sterilization and assembling of instruments, medical supplies, and equipment
  • Monitor the sterilization record through SPM instrument tracking systems, responsible for monitoring and completion of sterilization reports.
  • Answering department phone and assigning staff when not present on the floor.
  • Knowledgeable in all areas of expertise within the department to give positive feedback on processes and procedures.
  • Monitor and document in SPM tracking 20 audits per month for instrument sets Stamford & HSS.
  • Monitor expiration dates in all areas of department.
  • Document failures into a report and follow up with staff for reeducation.
  • Monitor progress daily ensuring staff are utilizing priority assignments and carts given daily.
  • Input all attendance/ behavior issues in word document and report to Assistant Manager & Manager.
  • Develops professional relationships with staff, vendors, and customers.
  • Identifies staff training needs and communicates them to Department Educator.
  • Ensures all documentation of work areas is correct.
  • Ensures all records are proficient in SPM.
  • Ensures staff huddles are being done with all staff.
  • Rounding in all areas of department.
  • Ensures all hospital policies, practices and procedures are being followed for all employees.
