About The Position

The position is for a full-time role in the Cardiac Cath Lab at Advocate Health, primarily working day shifts. The role involves ensuring cohesive patient care delivery and providing day-to-day work direction to assigned staff. The individual will collaborate with department and facility leadership in managing diagnostic areas, maintaining staff schedules, and ensuring quality patient care. Responsibilities include evaluating the quality of care, developing quality assurance measures, and collaborating with medical staff and educators. The position also involves human resources responsibilities, including coaching, performance reviews, and recommendations for hiring and promotions. The incumbent must adhere to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and demonstrate knowledge of patient care appropriate to age-specific needs.

Requirements

  • Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist registration (RCIS) or Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) certification or Electrophysiology Specialist (CEPS) certification or Registered Technologist (RT) registration or Registered Nurse license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) to be obtained within 6 months.
  • Associate's Degree in Cardiovascular Technology, Nursing, or Radiologic Technology.
  • Typically requires 3 years of experience in catheterization, EP or interventional radiology.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures cohesive patient care delivery providing day to day work direction to assigned staff.
  • Collaborates with department and/or facility leadership in the daily management of the diagnostic areas.
  • Maintains the staff schedule and case coverage in order to provide quality patient care.
  • Coordinates procedures and staff scheduling in lab areas to place cross-trained staff as needed.
  • Ensures areas of responsibility meet productivity, budgetary, employee engagement and patient outcome targets and standards.
  • Evaluates the quality of patient care provided by all staff through direct observation and adherence to policies.
  • Develops quality assurance measures as needed.
  • Develops recommendations for patient care improvements and efficiencies.
  • Collaborates with Medical Staff to determine practice preference and potential barriers.
  • Collaborates with educators in providing and maintaining a quality orientation program for employees.
  • Assists in the preparation of the annual budget and is responsible for operating within that budget.
  • May be responsible for inventory, purchasing, charging and revenue cycle functions.
  • Provides input into establishing protocol for new procedures and equipment.
  • Collaborates effectively with leadership and/or committees/work teams in developing and enhancing new programs and services.
  • Performs human resources responsibilities for staff including coaching on performance and completing performance reviews.
  • Recommends hiring, compensation changes, promotions, corrective action decisions, and terminations.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct.
