About The Position

The Supervisor in Care Management provides leadership and oversight for social work and case management activities within the unit at Northwest Medical Center in Tucson, AZ. This full-time RN Supervisor role operates under the administrative and clinical supervision of the Director, Behavioral Health. The position is responsible for coordinating and supervising the activities of social workers, ensuring high-quality care and compliance with organizational standards. Additionally, the Supervisor delivers direct clinical and case management services to patients, families, and caregivers, thereby contributing to the overall success of the department's programs and initiatives.

Requirements

  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support required

Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical supervision and support to social workers and patient care coordinators, ensuring the delivery of appropriate and effective therapeutic interventions.
  • Evaluates performance of clinical social services staff in collaboration with the Director of Behavioral Health and completes related evaluation documents and HR forms.
  • Ensures individuals responsible for the assessment, treatment, and care of patients are competent and meet the needs of the patient population served.
  • Monitors and evaluates the quality of patient care, contributing to the development of program goals, objectives, and improvements.
  • Conducts social service assessments by gathering and interpreting data related to psychosocial history, presenting problems, and patient needs.
  • Provides direct therapeutic interventions, including individual, group, and family therapy, in accordance with unit schedules and departmental policies.
  • Educates patients and family members on treatment plans, disabilities, and goals, ensuring their understanding and obtaining necessary consents.
  • Coordinates with relevant parties to facilitate court hearings, petitions, and transfers to state hospitals or court-ordered facilities, including arranging transportation.
  • Develops and delivers in-service training activities to address the clinical learning needs of the social services staff.
  • Participates in departmental meetings, committees, and continuous quality improvement initiatives to support the goals and objectives of the department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • Supervises, trains and oversees departmental staff.
  • Schedules employees to ensure effective use of resources.
  • Assists with and contributes to performance evaluations and goal setting.
  • Assists in managing departmental budget ensuring cost-effective operations while maintain high quality service.
  • Monitors expenditures, ensuring cost-effective delivery of services.
  • May contribute to evaluation and implementation of new technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
  • May contribute to development of departmental policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies.
  • May participate in audits, inspections and accreditation processes as applicable.
  • Follows established quality control practices to ensure accuracy, consistency and safety.
  • Works closely with leadership teams to coordinate and improve service delivery.
  • Stays up-to-date with industry advancements, new technologies, and regulatory changes.
  • May work in a staff role, when required. Ensures that duties and responsibilities are fulfilled while meeting all competencies established for that job.
