About The Position

The Supervisor BSN RN Surgical Services is responsible for coordinating and supervising the daily operations of the Unit. This role directs the delivery of care by department personnel to ensure patient outcomes are achieved, high quality care is delivered, and the patient experience is enhanced. The supervisor fosters and maintains positive working relationships among staff, physicians, and medical center personnel to ensure collaboration. The incumbent must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the age of the patients served.

Requirements

  • Current State license as a registered nurse
  • BSN or higher
  • Approximately two to three years progressively more responsible related work experience, including at least two years clinical experience as an RN
  • Ability to gain professional competence in nursing care techniques and practices

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit(s)
  • Knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional, and psycho-social needs of the patient population served
  • Knowledge of nursing theory, practice, and administration in order to oversee planning and implementation of care and the ability to prepare necessary analyses, reports, policies, and budgets
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to provide effective leadership to assigned personnel, instruct; and comfort patients and their families, and maintain cooperative working relationships with physicians, Medical Center personnel, and external agencies and organizations
  • Analytical skills necessary in order to organize, schedule and monitor Unit activities, implement effective nursing care procedures, and identify and resolve Unit and patient care problems
