About The Position

The role is responsible for overseeing the technical team of software development resources within the larger Commercial IT group. The oversight includes ensuring that the infrastructure, systems and/or applications operate reliably and support the operations of the commercial organization effectively and efficiently. The teams will be working primarily on a large-scale, custom developed application on AWS cloud technologies.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience with applicable technology, application, industry or comparable skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and schedule assigned tasks with optimum efficiency for the greatest benefit to Boardwalk.
  • Adaptive to a fast-paced environment that often requires managing multiple ongoing tasks, short deadlines, changing priorities, and making timely decisions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, using logical thought processes to break down and resolve complex issues.
  • Ability to make informed and timely decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and experienced in working independently with little or no direct supervision.
  • Maintain a high level of emphasis on personal safety and the safety of company employees, assets, and the general public.
  • Comply with all applicable policies and regulations.
  • Strong leadership skills, including empowering, developing, encouraging and listening to team members to create a positive work environment.
  • Demonstrated project management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience (5-7 years).

Responsibilities

  • Supervise team members daily.
  • Assist direct reports in managing workload and prioritizing work.
  • Assist team in troubleshooting application or technical issues if needed.
  • Ensure team members comply with all applicable policies and regulations.
  • Support the personal development and training of team members.
  • Set and review annual goals and monitor performance with at least one in-person review annually.
  • Monitor and approve timecards and expense reports.
  • Assign team members to approved work to ensure successful completion.
  • Meet with stakeholders to plan upcoming work, as needed.
  • Manage contracts, agreements, and ensure ongoing Veriforce compliance for vendors.
  • Provide input on budget needs for the team and projects.
  • Along with manager and team members, stay abreast of application and technology roadmaps and new technical strategies and enhancements that may be available.
  • Manage or oversee assigned projects including planning, execution and monitoring progress.
  • Identify team members to recommend for promotions, bonuses and commendations.
  • Ensure that any documentation applicable to team is accurate and accessible to the appropriate resources.
  • Periodically work extended hours and to respond to after hours and on weekends; overnight travel may be required.
  • Report to the Manager on all employee-related issues.
  • Drive the conceptualization and development of solutions (hardware, software, processes) that support business requirements
  • Collaborate with the appropriate parties, such as vendors, business users, or members of IT, in order to resolve problems or investigate opportunities as needed
  • Create process models, specifications, diagrams and/or charts based upon user requirements to provide direction to other team members
  • Gather and analyze data in support of business cases, proposed projects and system requirements
  • Generate and compile reports based on analytical findings, complete with probable cause and possible solutions to system issues
  • Generate statistics and reports for management and/or team members to represent current status of initiatives
  • Lead daily activities of team in a given functional area for purposes of setting overall task/project priorities and decision-making on support items
  • Lead the development and maintenance of an application support knowledgebase by documenting issues reported by users and the associated resolution process
  • Record, track, and document the problem-solving process utilized while researching, testing and resolving issues reported by users
  • Perform post-resolution follow-ups to ensure problems have been adequately resolved
  • Participate in on-call support rotation, as required for functional applications supported
  • Develop or review application training materials required to provide the user community with a solid understanding of the functionality available to meet the business requirements and conduct training sessions, as required
  • Advise clients and members of the IT organization on the latest industry practices and QE technology trends
  • Document detailed business requirements as part of story refinement
  • Review business process documentations of team members
  • Elicit, analyze, specify and validate the business needs of project stakeholders; including interviewing stakeholders and compiling user requirements to convey to development and infrastructure teams throughout phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
