Supervisor Behavioral Health
About The Position
The Behavioral Health Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day clinical operations and staff of the inpatient Behavioral Health Unit to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered mental health care. The Supervisor promotes a therapeutic environment, supports evidence-based nursing practice, and ensures compliance with regulatory and organizational standards. This role includes administrative oversight, staff supervision and development, performance management, and participation in interdisciplinary treatment planning. The Behavioral Health Supervisor also maintains clinical competence and may provide direct patient care when needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Psychology, or related field desirable.
- Minimum of three (3) years of psychiatric or behavioral health nursing experience required.
- Prior leadership, charge nurse, or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage unit operations and staff in a fast-paced behavioral health environment.
- Effective problem-solving, de-escalation, and crisis management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ability to work collaboratively and maintain composure under pressure.
- Knowledge of psychiatric nursing principles, psychotropic medications, and behavioral interventions.
- Current Pennsylvania Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required; renew every two years).
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training (within 3 months of hire; renew every two years).
