About The Position

The Optum family of businesses is seeking a Lead, Behavioral Health Therapist to join our team in the Knoxville area, TN. As a member of the Optum Behavioral Care team, you'll be an integral part of our vision to make healthcare better for everyone. As a Lead Behavioral Health Therapist, you will treat a wide variety of mental health conditions that reflect the needs of our diverse patient population. You will provide patients with behavioral and mental health treatments, including individual and group therapy, medication management, and intensive outpatient programs. This role will be embedded within our healthcare client, Summit Health Group, and is a Monday-Friday role, with no evenings, weekends, or holidays. As part of this hybrid role, you will work remotely one or two days per week, with the other days being onsite at the medical clinic.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in psychology, social work, or a related counseling field
  • Clear, active and unrestricted license (Independent license/unrestricted Full LCSW-S) in the state of Tennessee
  • Currently eligible to be enrolled as a provider in the Medicare program or able to terminate opt-out (if applicable) prior to starting a new position

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of professional social work/clinical experience post master's degree
  • Experience providing direct psychotherapy services to individuals and families
  • Experience working with computers for professional communication and medical documentation - Excel, Outlook, Athena RMS (or other EHRs)
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with equal effectiveness

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outpatient psychiatric evaluations and provide ongoing medication management
  • Screen and assess patients for common mental health and substance abuse disorders
  • Provide treatment for a variety of mental health conditions using treatment approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and other evidence-based methods
  • Review the work of others and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Develop innovative approaches and authorize deviations from standards
  • Serve as an expert and provide explanations/information to others on the most complex/critical issues
  • Motivate and inspire other team members and serve as a leader/mentor
  • Form excellent provider-patient alliances and coordinate care with external providers
