Responsible for leading the Avionics Systems Engineering team with design, testing, certification, and ongoing engineering support of all aspects of aircraft electrical systems for FAA certified single engine aircraft. Reporting to the Manager of Avionics Engineering, the Supervisor of Avionics Systems Engineering is responsible for the leading the engineering team tasked with design, testing, certification, and ongoing engineering support of all aspects of aircraft avionics systems.

  • Requirements, Design, Traceability, and Installation of Avionics equipment.
  • Integration Test definition (requirements-based testing), execution, and troubleshooting both for on aircraft and bench test.
  • Systems Engineering technical process definition and execution.
  • Identification of potential solutions in the market amongst subcontractors.
  • Coordinate design development and system integration within Cirrus and with subcontractors.
  • Generate engineering documentation in accordance with company procedures to develop and maintain type design data for multiple aircraft.
  • Guiding Avionics equipment through FAA part 23 certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent) required.
  • 6 years' experience with general aviation avionics development/integration.
  • 0-4 years leadership experience leading teams of 10 or more engineers working on multiple complex projects.
  • Previous certification experience with standards such as 14 CFR Part 23.
  • Systems Engineering Processes (ARP-4754, etc).
  • Process development experience (Six Sigma Green belt or others).
  • Process mapping and deployment experience (VSM).
  • Avionics software and hardware development processes (e.g. DO-178/DO-254).
  • Familiarity with Garmin Integrated Avionics.
  • Use of design tools such as CREO, MATLAB, VBA, or similar programs.
  • Requirements Management tool experience (PTC Integrity, Doors, Jama, or equivalent).
  • Change Management and Configuration Management tool experience (JIRA, Windchill, Clearquest, Clearcase, or equivalent).
  • Equipment Environmental qualification (DO-160) experience.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to read, write and speak the English language.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to efficiently learn new skills and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, Project).
  • Pilot or Ground School experience preferred.
