About The Position

The Patient Access Supervisor contributes to the Christ Hospital Health Networks operations by planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining programs, policies, and management systems in all facets of Patient Access. Works closely with staff on collaborative functions required to effectively gather information needed for billing and collection. Serves as a role model for ethical management behavior and promotes an awareness and understanding of positive ethical and moral principles consistent with the mission, vision, and values of The Christ Hospital Health Network. Monitors and assists in the development and implementation of new systems, software and training of new existing and new team members and special projects. Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of customer service and integrity. The Patient Access Supervisor will assist the team leads and be able to perform all Lead Access Coordinator and Access Coordinator functions.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree or related customer service.
  • Three years of Patient Access/Admitting or comparable Health Care experience required with one year in supervisory/lead position.
  • Computer literacy skills are required and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills to enable clear and competent interaction with employees, physicians, nursing staff, other hospital personnel, patients and their relatives.
  • Decisive, flexible, organized and able to function well in a fast paced, stressful and sensitive environment.
  • Ability to deal appropriately with conflict and resolve problems with diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of registration or financial clearance to promote complete, accurate, and timely hospital billing-maximizing collectible and minimizing uncollectible accounts.
  • Manage front-end processes, such as point-of-service collections, medical necessity checks, patient check-in and registration, pre-authorization, insurance eligibility, and others as assigned.
  • Ensure appropriate levels of understanding, awareness, and compliance with all applicable federal, state, and agency laws, regulations, guidelines, and professional standards.
  • Work with other supervisors and department leaders to search out and implement efficiencies, economies, and best practices.
  • Address patient complaints in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Ensure new associate orientation and training is completed. Provide ongoing training to all associates.
  • Provide supervision for Patient Access team members. Provide feedback to staff, both within and outside of formal review processes.
  • Encompass problem identification analysis and resolution with staff and patients.
  • Ensure the quality and reliability of registration data system-wide. Review staff work utilizing the KPI/Quality Review Form on a weekly (or as needed) basis to ensure that scheduling, registration and financial clearance activities are handled appropriately.
  • Follow TCH HIPPA policies to protect patient privacy and follow Information Security policies to keep patient information secure.
  • Understand and follow the Christ Hospital Health Network policies and procedures along with individual department guidelines.
  • Provide patients with information about their rights and responsibilities.
