About The Position

Purpose and Scope: Supervise and direct activities of Propellant/Pneumatic mechanics performing the operational and maintenance requirements of the KPLSS II Propellants organization. Responsible for applicable contract requirements to include planning, staffing, training, inventory management, policy adherence and procedural direction. Ensure compliance with Federal, State, NASA and Space Force regulations. Essential Responsibilities: 1. Plan and monitor Propellant/Pneumatic shop, field and office activities and methods. 2. Respond to inquiries, investigate, and resolve issues and technical concerns internally and with external customers. 3. Perform functional and safety analysis of maintenance and or operator training for equipment and processes. 4. Provide technical direction to mechanics, technicians, inspectors, contractors, and others in the operations, maintenance, repair, remanufacture, fabrication, troubleshooting, and removal from service of assigned contract systems and equipment assets. 5. Maintain required certifications and licenses to perform all required activities. 6. Interview, hire, train, schedule, assign, instruct, and monitor the work of Propellant/Pneumatic Mechanics engaged in operations, maintenance, data collection, data entry and documentation. 7. Ensure response to emergencies and other immediate situations is effectively accomplished by staff and provide direction for such activities. 8. Status, monitor, report, and control the operational use of assigned systems including compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, ASME, SF, and NASA regulations. 9. Ensure all Propellant/Pneumatic activities are performed safely including activation, modification, and daily operations and maintenance. 10. Plan and report on staffing, training equipment, supplies and other resource requirements to meet changing contractual, program and regulatory requirements. 11. Interpret and apply company policy and carry out disciplinary procedures when required. 12. Determines and ensures work procedures, work procedure compliance, prepares and assists in work schedules development and work document closure in the KPLSS II Work Management System. Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a technical discipline or college level supervisory courses, plus four years' experience in Propellant/Pneumatic, propellants or a related field including one year of assigning and checking the work of others; or equivalent years of experience in leading or supervising operations and maintenance activities.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • A driver's license is required to independently travel onto and around KSC property.
  • Must retain driver license and able to be trained to operate vehicles up to one ton general purpose, and 6000-pound forklift.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for unescorted access to assigned work areas.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
  • If required, must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
