About The Position

The Supervising Social Worker will support the BNT Program Director in leading a team of navigators and social workers within the Civil Division Unit. In addition to assisting with staff supervision, this role will maintain an appropriate client caseload, cultivate relationships with community partners, identify and pursue grant opportunities and basic‑needs resources, and coordinate communication and service delivery across the Civil Division Unit.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) required’ LMSW preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of social work experience, including supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of social work principles, ethical standards, community resources, and civil legal systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Commitment to social justice and a passion for serving underprivileged communities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a client caseload, providing direct social work services including client interviews, home visits, development of individualized action plans, referrals to community resources, assistance with benefits applications and fair hearings, and ongoing client support.
  • Collaborate with attorneys to provide recommendations, orients clients to the courtroom and community resources, and support case management processes.
  • Ensure accurate, timely documentation of client interactions, progress notes, and recommendations in the case management system.
  • Support the Program Director in supervising and mentoring Social Workers, Navigators, and interns, including assigning cases, offering guidance, and ensuring quality client services.
  • Assist in researching, preparing, and submitting grant applications and coordinating funding or in-kind support for the Basic Needs Team.
  • Maintain clear communication with staff and community partners, coordinate service delivery with external providers, and identify emerging trends affecting clients.
  • Participate in program reporting, budget planning, staff training, and other administrative duties to support effective team operations.
  • Attend team and organizational meetings, contributing to program development and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Provide leadership and direction to direct reports, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
  • Support the Program Director in daily supervision of Social Workers, Navigators, and interns, including assigning cases, offering guidance, and ensuring quality client services.
  • Set clear goals, monitor team progress, and conduct one-on-one meetings to provide feedback, support professional development, and address performance issues.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively, balancing workload and ensuring optimal utilization of team resources.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, encouraging open communication, idea sharing, and teamwork.
  • Mentor and coach team members to enhance their skills, knowledge, and career growth within the organization.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to the organization's values and culture.
  • Handle escalated issues or conflicts within the team, providing guidance and facilitating resolution in a timely and effective manner.
  • Collaborate with Program Director, other departmental managers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment of team initiatives with broader organizational goals and objectives.
  • Assist the Program Director with preparing performance evaluation documentation; reviews and conducts performance evaluation meetings.
  • Assist the Program Director with preparing program reports, budget planning, grant-related tasks, and staff evaluations.
  • Review and approve associate’s timecards and manages time off requests.
