About The Position

The Heritage Oaks Patient Enrichment Center, more commonly known as the ‘HOPE Center,’ is a newly constructed, state of the art, 16-bed, Psychiatric Health Facility, serving the acute psychiatric needs of the community in concert with the Sacramento County Department of Health and Human Services. Website: https://sacramentohopecenter.com/ The Supervising Registered Nurse (SRN) is a professional who prescribes, coordinates, and evaluates patient care through collaborative efforts with health team members in accordance with the nursing process and the standards of care and best practices. The SRN is expected to adhere to all facility policies, procedures and direction given by administration, nursing leadership, physicians and supervisory/managerial staff while conducting themselves to the highest professional degree. The SRN will be expected to assist the Director of Nursing in ensuring that all staff within the department are adhering to standards, meeting requirements and are scheduled for work. The SRN will be expected to meet the needs of the facility at all times and assist with a wide variety of tasks. The SRN can be expected to cover nursing department positions if no other coverage can be found, along with working a varied schedule based on the needs of the facility plus overtime and flexible hours.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required; Associate degree Required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of one (1) year experience working in a psychiatric health capacity. Preferred three (3) years working in a psychiatric health care facility.
  • Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
  • Additional Requirements: CPR certification and successful completion of Handle with Care (HWC) training (provided in-house), including appropriate use of Seclusion and Restraint, within 30 days of employment, and prior to assisting in a restraining process. Must demonstrate medication administration skills and complete nursing competencies skills checklist.

Responsibilities

  • Provide continuous supervision for the entire facility while on duty.
  • Assist the DON with staff readiness, conflict resolution, staffing needs and facility operations.
  • Communicate with the treatment team, physicians, social workers and all other parties of the patients’ current status, well-being, behaviors and thought processes.
