About the position

This position is located at the Cerritos Investigations Office in Cerritos. In accordance with Penal Code Section 13651, the incumbent shall conduct their duties with an emphasis on community interaction and collaborative problem solving. Under the direction of Supervising Investigator II (Area Commander), in Region III, the Supervising Investigator I performs duties including conducting highly confidential and complex criminal investigations pertaining to internal security, employee misconduct, document integrity, public funds, burglary of offices, tampering with official records and systems, and other special cases of a criminal nature. The incumbent participates as a DMV law enforcement representative in multi-agency criminal investigations and assignments involving various law enforcement agencies, provides direct criminal investigative testimony, and performs a full range of peace officer duties in accordance with the California Penal Code.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct highly confidential and complex criminal investigations.
  • Participate in multi-agency criminal investigations.
  • Provide direct criminal investigative testimony to courts and agencies.
  • Effect and assist in arrests of criminal suspects.
  • Issue misdemeanor and registration violation citations.
  • Serve and assist in search warrants.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Must pass a background investigation.
  • Must pass psychological and medical examinations.
  • Possession of a valid California Drivers License (CDL).
  • Eligibility for appointment and must take and pass examination.
