The incumbent will be expected to provide community empowerment legal services and supervise and direct law students providing community empowerment legal services to low-income immigrants in Los Angeles County. The Law School’s Loyola Immigrant Justice Clinic (LIJC) is a community-based collaboration of Loyola Law School, Loyola Marymount University, Homeboy Industries Inc., and Dolores Mission Church. LIJC’s mission is to advance the rights of the immigrant population in East Los Angeles through direct legal services, education, and community empowerment while teaching law students effective immigrants’ rights lawyering skills in a real-world setting. In response to the changing immigration law landscape, the LIJC seeks to add an attorney to our team for one year to expand our capacity to meet the significant increased need for legal services and education expressed by our client community and nonprofit partners. This attorney will have the opportunity to receive training and mentorship in teaching and supervision of law students, and as a result is an ideal position for an immigration attorney seeking to transition to teaching law in a clinical setting.
