Superintendents at Kent Companies are responsible for managing and overseeing the construction job site from the day of mobilization until the project scope is completed. This role is critical in ensuring that all aspects of the construction process are executed efficiently and safely. The Superintendent acts as the job site leader, identifying unsafe working environments and proactively correcting those conditions. They serve as the Safety Coach for the team, ensuring that daily reporting, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and toolbox talks are conducted as non-negotiable practices. In addition to safety, the Superintendent is tasked with initial planning, which involves studying construction drawings before the start date and making necessary updates as the work progresses. They must alert Project Management to any errors before they become problematic. Budget management is also a key responsibility, requiring the Superintendent to demonstrate knowledge of job sequences and how to push a job forward safely and productively while staying within budget constraints. Effective communication and customer service are essential for success in this role. The Superintendent must communicate clear expectations with their team and clients during on-site supervision. They are responsible for proactively managing the job site by maintaining detailed records of all labor, materials, and equipment, as well as managing deliveries and schedules to avoid delays. Supervising subcontractors, foremen, and craftsmen is also part of their duties to ensure that projects are executed properly. Quality control is paramount, and the Superintendent must understand the quality expectations of Kent Companies to ensure that the final product meets or exceeds the requirements outlined in the scope of work. The Superintendent collaborates with the General Superintendent and Project Manager to build and maintain a project schedule, including updates and changes, and communicates any problems or changes in a timely manner. They are also responsible for monthly financial accountability meetings to clarify schedules and accurately reflect spending for remaining work on site. This position is dynamic and requires adaptability, as duties and responsibilities may change at any time.
