About The Position

Our client is a well-established public works general contractor with a strong presence across Southern California. With decades of experience delivering complex infrastructure projects, they’ve built a reputation for quality execution, safety, and a collaborative, people-first culture. Due to continued growth across Los Angeles, Orange County, and surrounding areas, they are seeking a Superintendent to join their field leadership team and play a key role in driving project success. The Superintendent is the on-site leader responsible for executing daily construction operations. This individual will oversee field activities, coordinate subcontractors and self-perform crews, and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with plans and budgets. This is a high-impact role requiring strong field presence, problem-solving ability, and the leadership to keep projects progressing on schedule.

Requirements

  • 2–3+ years of Superintendent or construction field leadership experience (more is welcome)
  • Public works experience strongly preferred
  • Background in water, stormwater, utilities, or civil infrastructure projects is highly desirable
  • Proven ability to lead crews and coordinate subcontractors
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and accountability
  • Effective communicator across field teams, project managers, and stakeholders
  • Comfortable with reporting, documentation, and planning processes
  • Team-oriented mindset with long-term growth interest

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in union environments
  • Background managing self-performed scopes of work
  • Familiarity with public agency processes, inspections, and documentation
  • Experience working on Southern California public works projects

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily field operations on public works construction projects
  • Review plans, specifications, phasing, and site conditions
  • Coordinate subcontractors, labor, materials, and equipment
  • Maintain workflow and ensure proper sequencing of trades
  • Manage site readiness, logistics, and temporary facilities (trailers, utilities, etc.)
  • Draft RFIs and coordinate with Project Managers for resolution
  • Maintain daily reports, timesheets, and project documentation
  • Conduct weekly safety meetings and ensure compliance
  • Keep as-built drawings current and updated
  • Participate in weekly project meetings (internal and client-facing)
  • Develop and manage short-term lookaheads and planning tools
  • Track progress and support monthly billing verification
  • Monitor productivity, quality, and budget adherence in the field
  • Represent the company professionally with clients, inspectors, and partners
