About The Position

Burkentine is growing and as a result we are looking for Superintendents to join our dynamic team. Superintendents provide on-site supervision and coordination for all phases of Multi-Family and Custom Home construction projects. The Superintendent is solely responsible for and will be held accountable for the timely completion of the project and for ensuring that the project is constructed in strict accordance with plans, specifications, and local codes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalency is preferred.
  • 3+ years of verifiable experience as a Superintendent with a thorough knowledge of the trades
  • Basic Computer skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in tract housing and multifamily production is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Generate, manage, coordinate, and execute an overall project schedule.
  • This schedule shall be updated to reflect the current schedule of activities monthly and submitted to senior leadership for review.
  • Generate, manage, coordinate, and execute a 3-week look-ahead schedule that nests and relates to the overall project schedule.
  • This schedule shall be maintained on person and readily available for review and analysis as required.
  • Schedule Burkentine self-performance activities, subcontractors, consultants, and vendors in the critical path to ensure timely completion.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and preside over weekly subcontractor meetings designed to coordinate the work.
  • Conduct Daily “Work Huddles” each morning with key Burkentine and subcontractor personnel to coordinate and communicate work expectations for the day.
  • Perform quality control duties and responsibilities regarding the work being performed.
  • Communicate with the project team regarding ASI’s, RFI’s, and Material Submittals.
  • Have a working knowledge and understanding of the subcontracted scope of work and ensure the subcontractors are fully executing and complying with their contracted scope of work.
  • Coordinate and participate in required inspections with local jurisdictions.
  • Identify subcontractor non-compliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards.
  • Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to the project team for resolution.
  • Maintain daily log (written) of activities on the job site.
  • Ensure the subcontractor has corrected all deficiencies identified by the project team.
  • Walk all units on the project daily to monitor activities and assist in future planning.
