About The Position

The Superintendent role focuses on supporting both operations and business development and is responsible for supporting growth while maintaining strong field-level oversight of active and developing work. This role focuses on identifying and pursuing new opportunities in vegetation management, supporting estimating and bid development, and providing direct field oversight to crews to support production, quality, safety, and customer alignment. The Superintendent works closely with the Regional Account Manager, Business Development, Operations leadership, and field teams to support existing programs, expand ArborWorks’ footprint into new accounts and territories, and strengthen customer relationships through consistent on-site engagement. The ideal candidate has strong vegetation management field experience, is highly organized, flexible, and is comfortable balancing customer-facing responsibilities with hands-on operational oversight.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License with clean DMV record, per AW insurance requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in the vegetation management industry
  • Field experience with formerly held supervisory roles
  • Knowledge of utility line clearance and related field operations Strong understanding of competitive landscape across ArborWorks territory and the evolving priorities of utility customers
  • Attention to detail which is critical to maintain a high quality of care
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Ability to read and interpret maps and specifications
  • General knowledge of negotiated bids, hard bids, unit price bids, etc.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Strong math and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage P&L
  • Solid communication skills to complete paperwork and communicate with clients and internal customers effectively

  • Ability to travel regularly

Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in utility vegetation management and related markets.
  • Support expansion into new accounts, contracts, and geographic territories through relationship development and field presence.
  • Conduct outreach to prospective clients through calls, emails, and in-person meetings.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in target accounts.
  • Review RFPs, specifications, maps, and contract documents to identify risks, opportunities, and qualification criteria.
  • Perform job walks for bid opportunities and assess scope, access, crew composition, equipment needs, and production assumptions to successfully build out cost models.
  • Collaborate with Business Development and Operations teams throughout the RFP and bid process.
  • Assist in pricing and bidding for utility, municipal, state, and federal vegetation management opportunities.
  • Participate in internal estimate reviews and assist with final estimate assembly for management review.
  • Collect, organize, and maintain bid documentation for future reference.
  • Provide direct field oversight of assigned crews to support safe, productive, and compliant operations.
  • Support field teams with scope clarification, work sequencing, and productivity alignment.
  • Track production, monitor progress against plan, and identify gaps or inefficiencies in staffing, equipment, or execution.
  • Identify operational deficiencies and collaborate with Operations leadership to implement corrective actions.
  • Serve as a field-level point of contact for ArborWorks customers, addressing questions, concerns, and scope alignment.
  • Assist Operations with change order identification and pricing support when required.
  • Solicit quotes from suppliers for materials and equipment as required
  • Represent ArborWorks professionally at job walks, customer meetings, and industry events.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with internal ArborWorks clients.
  • Other duties as assigned
