As a Construction Superintendent, you'll be responsible for supervising the site and building construction process for our projects in Columbus, OH. You'll ensure safety protocols are maintained and may train project superintendents, assist with purchasing, and approve bids. This role involves travel now and in the future, with upcoming projects in Ohio and Indiana.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 15 years of experience in multi-family construction supervisory roles.
  • Strong language, math, and reasoning skills.
  • Familiarity with drawings, specifications, contract terms, and purchase orders.
  • Intermediate skills with MS Office and MS Project.
  • Understanding of civil, architectural, and structural design; knowledge of MEP design, estimating skills, and local/state building codes.
  • Ability to read, write, interpret and analyze business publications, technical procedures and government regulations.
  • Ability to write and interpret reports, correspondence and manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present to groups of people including employees, vendors and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate proportions, percentages, and to apply concepts of algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve problems and work with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only general guidelines exist.
  • Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise trade contractors and monitor work quality daily.
  • Train and mentor project superintendents on field management techniques.
  • Ensure job site compliance with all OSHA safety requirements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with lender representatives, architects, and engineers.
  • Coordinate material testing and inspections.
  • Assist in preparing and updating the master project schedule.
  • Communicate project status and provide a two-to-three-week work forecast.
  • Hold weekly safety and project meetings.
  • Collaborate with local utility companies for final taps and approvals.
  • Lead the creation of as-built drawings and obtain the Certificate of Occupancy.
  • Travel up to 50%
  • Supervise the site (including maintaining all safety protocols) and building construction process for the entire project.
  • Train project superintendents, assisting with project purchasing and approval of bids/ proposals as well as monthly trade partner invoices, on occasion.
  • Attend buyout and project meetings as requested.
  • Provide technical assistance with MEP work, and inspect all work to ensure compliance to drawings.
  • Inform all trade contractors and home office on the status of the master schedule and provide a two-three week look ahead of future work.
  • Supervise any laborers and work with the Assistant Superintendent to accomplish daily task.
  • Investigate and recommend new products or trade contractors to Project Manger for future consideration.
  • Other duties as assigned.
