POSITION SUMMARY Oversees, leads, manages, or provides support to field operations for medium to large scale projects, and/or complex projects. Trains and mentors associates. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in the construction industry
  • Basic knowledge of personal computer and e-mail applications.
  • Proven ability to accurately schedule construction activities or projects.
  • Demonstrated success in effectively managing safety on projects.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret contract documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients, trade partners, or associates.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • PRECONSTRUCTION Actively participates in development of the construction schedule. Provides input and feedback with Trade Partner selection. Develops Site Specific Safety and QA/QC Action Plans prior to mobilization. Establishes comprehensive site logistics and phasing plans. Reviews and understands Trade Partner scopes of work and owner contract prior to bid being finalized. Reviews and provides feedback to ensure budget is set up correctly for General Conditions and General Requirements. Provides feedback and management plans top precon and project management for critical operational activities. Develops Self Perform work plans.
  • PROJECT SET-UP AND PLANNING Develops a comprehensive phased project logistics plan. Develops site mobilization, construction workflow, and comprehensive hoisting and rigging plans. Leads SWPPP, maintains and handles stormwater run-off/sedimentation, and erosion control plans. Leads and develops implementation of overall site office needs. Leads site fencing, erosion control, Trade Partners site coordination prior to mobilization. Ensures all locates have been identified, communicated, and establishment of project control points.
  • SCHEDULE MANAGEMENT Co-develops and provides feedback to ensure overall project schedule is complete and accurate. Coordinates and schedules multiple Trades on large scale projects or is the sole Superintendent for medium size projects. Leads and provides input regarding most critical activities over the next several months. Leads and implements a schedule recovery plan if a delay(s) occurs and need to recover lost time. Leads and provides a look ahead and work through sequencing, phasing, adjustment of plans as needed. Provides input when updating master and look ahead schedule, ensure documentation of any delays are in the schedule. Understands of the projects' critical and near critical path. Provides appropriate level of detail for the look-ahead and master schedule weekly update meetings. Effectively communicates schedule to project stakeholders. Effectively works in MS Project.
  • BUDGET MANGEMENT Reviews project budget and weekly reports to ensure project meets or exceeds budget specifications. Provides feedback and helps implement corrective measures to steer project back on budget, if necessary, by communicating and coordinating with suppliers and Trade Partners. Works with field staff to ensure project budget and weekly reports meet or exceeds project specification. Reviews weekly labor and material reports, communicates discrepancies to appropriate leaders. Works with project management to determine if Trade Partner's monthly billing is accurate. Executes field work directives.
  • SAFETY MANAGEMENT Develops and implements site specific safety plan with assistance from Sr. Project Staff and Safety Department. Ensures weekly site safety walk-throughs are being conducted, documented, and corrective actions are resolved. Coaches less experienced field staff in what to look out for, i.e. (trenches, rigging, etc.) Leads by example to ensure Safety is the highest priority on the Project. Ensures ORM's are being filled out and documented daily. Ensures safety orientation is being conducted for every worker onsite and is documented. Ensures all Trade Partner safety requirements are in place prior to mobilizing onsite. Ensures a review of hazardous building material survey(s) has been conducted. Leads potential high-risk activities and helps with preliminary planning for each.
  • LOGISTICS CENTER Develops comprehensive material and equipment plans to maximize enhancements. Develops comprehensive equipment needs with Logistics Center to evaluate merits of purchases vs. rental. Leads budget and schedule comparison to ensure equipment is onsite when needed. (Skid Steer, Crane, Ground Thaw, etc.) Leads plan to maximize tool and equipment rental enhancements. Provides Logistic Center with large equipment utilization plan. (Allowing time to purchase large equipment if needed.) Ensures monthly Logistics billing invoice matches tools onsite. Ensures proper maintenance of company owned equipment.
  • SELF-PERFORM Develops production rate goals for team to ensure work is being performed within budget and/or unit requirements. Leads development of project staff and overall field craft needs. Provides feedback, encourages and recognize team member for work completed on time and with high quality. Leads efforts with ensuring Self-Perform is receiving adequate notice for any manpower request. Develops recovery plan if needed to get back on track. Ensures proper tools are onsite as needed for Self-Perform needs. Leads schedule, coordination, and unit tracking of field craft and self-perform tasks.
  • BUILDING PERFORMANCE SOLUTIONS Works with BPS to ensure BIM engagement (if applicable). Accompanies BPS Manager during site visits. Leads efforts to ensure deficiencies are documented and corrected with pictures in ProCore. Leads overall mock-up process, develops a plan, and ensures implementation. Leads preinstallation meetings are being held prior to any Trade Partner starting work. Leads QA/QC inspections, non-conforming work is being identified, tracked and corrected through proper documentation. Leads Quality Manager collaboration to maintain project Action Plans ensuring they are managed effectively. Leads effort with Building Envelope Coordination Meeting, ensuring all related Trade Partners are reviewing building details prior to start of work. Actively participates in project site-walks with Quality Manager during site visits.
  • DOCUMENTATION Ensures documentation for the project are maintained, organized, and up to date. Ensures filing systems are well organized and maintained for all project files. Ensures drawings, daily logs, and inspections are up to date. Ensures regular photo documentation is being conducted. (StructionSite, Drone Flyovers, etc.) Ensures any change or field as-built is documented with the design team. Ensures complete and accurate Daily Log's and distribution to proper team members within 24 hours.
  • PROJECTIONS AND DEEP DIVES Leads Project Status Report and Progress Photos. Leads and ensures schedule is up to date and accurate. Leads and participates in meeting(s) with project team. Leads with Deep Dive visit plans (parking, site walk, project preparedness, etc.) Leads with follow up Action Items, documentation, and tracking through completion in a timely manner.
  • MEETINGS AND RELATIONSHIPS Leads weekly Trade Partner Meetings, co-leads proper meeting sections. Leads Pre-Installation Meetings. Participates in and leads sections in OAC meetings. Leads with ensuring meeting minutes are sent out in a timely manner. Represents the company in a professional manner at all times.
  • RISK MANAGEMENT Ensures owner & trade partner contracts are in place prior to starting any work. Ensures receipt of all applicable Safety Documentation from Trade Partners (Fall Protection Plan, Safety Plans, etc.) prior to starting any work. Ensures Trade Partner COI has been received and is not expired. Ensures FWD's are in place prior to any extra work being started. Ensures importance of overall delay documentation (permit, weather, trade partner, etc.).
