About The Position

The position involves the supervision of construction projects, ensuring successful completion while adhering to safety and quality standards. The Assistant Superintendent/Project Engineer will be responsible for performing essential job responsibilities, which include attending and participating in safety training programs, enforcing safety procedures, and verifying subcontractor certificates of insurance. The role requires the preparation and maintenance of the Critical Path Method (CPM) job schedule, which is crucial for project management and timely completion. The individual will also be tasked with developing the confidence of both the Owner and Architect, which is vital for maintaining strong professional relationships throughout the project lifecycle. In addition to project oversight, the Assistant Superintendent/Project Engineer will recruit, organize, train, direct, and coordinate the field construction team, including managing subcontractor work. Quality assurance is a key responsibility, as the individual must set standards for quality control and ensure that all work meets these standards. The role also involves ordering materials and tools, planning supply allotment to avoid crisis buying, and preparing necessary reports such as time sheets, work orders, daily reports, and invoice approvals. The position requires timely documentation and completion of all punch lists, reviewing all drawings, specifications, and subcontractor submittals. The Assistant Superintendent/Project Engineer will chair or attend pre-job conferences and regular subcontractor meetings, perform start-up testing, and ensure a smooth turnover to the Owner. Final close-out documentation and obtaining the Owner's acceptance are also critical tasks. While the role primarily focuses on supervisory responsibilities, the individual may need to perform manual work in rare circumstances when exigent situations arise. The ability to travel as required and supervise multiple projects over a large geographic area is essential, along with completing other responsibilities as assigned.
