As Superintendent, Site Services, you will lead from the front—aligning people, processes, and priorities to deliver complex construction scopes with precision and consistency. You will work closely with construction leadership, trade supervision, and project stakeholders to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Purpose of the role You will be responsible for directing a large group of forepeople within a single trade discipline on a construction site. This role ensures effective scheduling, workface planning, coordination, and supervision of site services activities while maintaining a strong focus on health, safety, and environmental (HSE) performance. You will drive workforce productivity, support apprentice development, and maintain strict oversight of cost and quality control to achieve project objectives.

Requirements

  • Typically 12+ years of construction experience within a relevant trade discipline, including leadership responsibility at the foreperson or superintendent level
  • Journey-level certification or equivalent trade qualification where required
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, field-based teams in dynamic and high-demand project environments
  • Strong expertise in workforce planning, scheduling, and productivity optimization
  • Proven commitment to HSE excellence, with the ability to embed safety into all aspects of execution
  • Solid understanding of construction cost control and quality assurance practices
  • Advanced knowledge of trade-specific systems, processes, and tools, with the ability to troubleshoot and guide others
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence, motivate, and align diverse teams
  • Sound judgment and decision-making capability, particularly in balancing competing priorities and resource constraints
  • Working knowledge of labor relations principles and their application in a construction setting
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to build trust across teams and stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of forepeople and trade personnel to achieve safe and efficient project execution
  • Plan, schedule, and allocate workforce resources to maintain optimal manpower balance aligned with construction priorities
  • Oversee workface planning activities to ensure crews are equipped, informed, and positioned for success
  • Champion a strong HSE culture, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor crew productivity, efficiency, and performance, implementing improvements where necessary
  • Coordinate closely with construction management and other disciplines to resolve interface challenges and maintain workflow continuity
  • Ensure quality control standards are met through consistent inspection, verification, and adherence to specifications
  • Support and promote structured apprentice training and workforce development initiatives
  • Monitor project costs within the area of responsibility, identifying risks and opportunities for cost optimization
  • Apply company labor relations policies consistently and effectively
  • Identify, address, and resolve conflicts proactively to maintain a collaborative and productive work environment
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of systems, processes, and tools
