About The Position

Venture Global LNG (“Venture Global”) is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company’s two Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global’s modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost. We are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Operations Superintendent located in Cameron LA. General Description: The Operations Superintendent reports to the Director, Operations and will coordinate the daily O&M activities involving the safe and effective operation of the Venture Global Calcasieu Pass 2 production units. The Operations Superintendent is responsible for working with other Supervisors, Managers and Directors within the Calcasieu Pass 2 Operations & Maintenance departments to maximize the LNG production for the facility.

Requirements

  • Associate degree, PTEC qualification in a process field of study, Military training, or equivalent experience.
  • Ten (10) years’ experience, of which Five (5) have been in a supervisory capacity in operations.
  • Experience in operations of CCGTs, preferably with GE 7EA and A200 STG configurations. Additional CC configurations and Air-Cooled Condensers (ACCs) experience also a plus.
  • Experience with Switching, Switchgear configurations, And System transmission and distribution operation, regulation, maintenance and/or configuration.
  • Commissioning, startup and operations in Oil & Gas, petrochemical, or Independent Power Producer (IPP) facility along with internal electrical distribution systems experience desired.
  • Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status.

Responsibilities

  • Be a leader in driving the culture for safe plant operations, keeping alert for unsafe practices and conditions, and ensuring all identified corrective actions are taken. Ensure the facility operates within all permit requirements.
  • Be the focal point across the operations team, for decision making as relates to operational activities and actions to taken based regarding production impacting events.
  • Identifies and mitigates, where necessary, potential operations risks to the leadership team.
  • Ensures that systems are in place and operable for effective emergency response and be responsible for first line incident control. Ensure all safety, environmental, and operational documentation is completed in a professional and timely manner.
  • Drive the effort to ensure a successful pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and initial operation of the LNG Facility. This will include being a vital member of the integrated commissioning / start-up team(s) along with the EPC contractor.
  • Ensure economic and operational efficiency of the plant, ensure all operating shifts understand the plant business strategy and budget, and manage resources (staff and materials) within operational requirements and budgetary constraints with maximum focus reliability and performance.
  • Oversee execution of production plan, communicating goals and deviations as necessary, coordinate with other departments on behalf of the operations team, coordinate internal information sharing between operating shifts and all support departments.
  • Oversee production output and reliability targets to maximize LNG plant throughout. Ensure all generating specifications are met and develop methods and procedures to increase operating efficiency.
  • Ensure the plant operates within the operating envelope, oversee proper transfer of ownership of equipment between Operations and Maintenance, determine and prioritize maintenance requirements to include the writing and management of associated work orders.
  • Provide technical support to problem solving activities and ensure reliability issues are identified and properly communicated to the appropriate department.
  • Manage the activities for all shift operations; lead in the development of individual performance improvement plans for operators to include a formal training process. Provide informal mentoring and instruction, conduct annual performance reviews, and hold individuals accountable for performance and behavior.
  • Participate in daily strategy planning with Production management and work to overcome the limitations and deficiencies to ensure targets are met.
  • Serve as Incident Commander and perform emergency management duties as assigned.
  • Manage the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and development and improvement process.
  • Interface with the VG Training Department and champion the Operations training program. Act as a mentor by providing trainees with meaningful job assignments, on the job training, and progress monitoring.
  • Directly interface and collaborate with Maintenance to: Manage operational continuity and minimize downtime during periods of planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
  • Ensure the assurance of the safety programs such as Car Seal audits, Bypass management and Management of Change are maintained across shifts and between teams.
  • Lead and support additional duties as assigned.
