Provides direct supervision to shift supervisors and hourly employees in the manufacturing of food products; ensures the safe operations of daily activities while meeting established production schedules. Effectively communicates production goals and objectives to achieve results; and maintains a high standard of product quality while maximizing plant efficiencies in support of continuous improvement. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Planning, directing, and coordinating the manufacture of products in compliance with company goals and objectives. Maintaining employee safety and morale by creating safe and efficient working environment. Ensure HACCP and other control documents are accurate and completed in a timely fashion. Maintain the highest standards of food safety Establishing and controlling conditions of production to satisfy customer and quality specifications. Organizing and directing workflow for satisfying production requirements in a cost-efficient manner. Investigation and analyzing new processes and innovations. Developing cost-effective alternatives and improvements to production processes. Managing inventory control of essential parts and operating supplies Maintaining proper training of personnel with flexibility on hours to coach team members. Coordinate operations with Scheduling Manager and Operations Managers. Assist other operations as needed and as directed, this may include assistance with scheduling, sanitation, and production departments. Functional responsibility for all plant operations. Direct leadership of maintenance functions in alignment with Plant Engineer and Maintenance Supervisors. Incident Commander for all emergency situations Mentor and provide coaching for Production Supervisors Works with support departments on shift to maintain overall shift effectiveness. Support positive employee relations in all aspects of interaction with employees including valuing differences monitoring compliance with company policies and procedures and ensuring all policies are administered consistently and equitably across all employees Facilitates replacement employee job training, work station assignments/rotations including back-up for absent employees and overtime assignment. Perform essential recordkeeping and timekeeping functions for department personnel using Paycom system. Monitor employee attendance and absenteeism, holding employees accountable as necessary Coordinate production startups, shutdowns, changeovers and sanitation. Establish staffing levels including turnover and needs relating to product volumes. Schedule and conduct shift meetings to review safety concerns and performance along with plant performance compared to expectations. Responsible to meet shift production goals. Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of both college education and relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a four year college degree. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and time keeping systems preferred. Prefer three or more years previous supervisory experience in food processing manufacturing; union experience preferred Physical and mental ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week while helping create and work towards a Quality vision The Ideal Candidate will have the Following Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, logistics, or related field highly preferred. 2 or more years’ supervisory experience. Experience in a food manufacturing environment required. High-level leadership and decision-making skills. Able to motivate, influence, and train people. Able to interact with all professionals of Plant Management. Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Compliance of Programs. Production quantity and quality results.
