About The Position

This position oversees daily operations of the Transit Division by ensuring complete staffing of all services, monitoring efficiency of bus routes, responding to incidents, and supporting the operations staff in enacting training and standard operations procedures. This position also ensures the Transit fleet is maintained and ready to operate daily. Supervision is given to Transit Operations management staff; supervision is received from the Division Director of Transit Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of 6 years of transit management work experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory work experience
  • Possession of a valid class A or B commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger endorsement and successful completion of the airbrakes knowledge and skills test, or an equivalent license from another state - copy of current driving record is required at time of interview
  • Intermediate skills in MS Office 365

Responsibilities

  • Manage Transit operations to include the overall daily operations of the fixed route and demand-response transportation systems
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate operations staff, including Operations Manager and Supervisor
  • Manage scheduling, dispatch, training, quality control, and incident response and tracking; monitor performance metrics and adjust operations to improve service delivery
  • Develop and implement operating policies, procedures and performance standards to improve service; participate in Division policy development that guide operational activities and ensures compliance with regulations
  • Align operational goals with Divisional objectives to support the Transit mission
  • Respond to and investigate accidents and incidents; make recommendation to update policies to prevent future incidents as needed
  • Work with administrative and operations staff to resolve route and bus stop issues
  • Conduct analysis of operations performance data; make recommendations based on analysis
  • Participate in bus stop and bus shelter placement
  • Oversee management of vehicle fleet and equipment, and coordinate repairs and maintenance schedule with Fleet Services
  • Evaluate programs and services to ensure continuous improvement in meeting the needs of Transit customers
  • Design, implement, and monitor Transit services for compliance with applicable Federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies
  • Drive County Transit vehicles as needed
  • Develop and implement various reporting formats and processes
  • Participate in the analysis of proposed services, routes, projects, and plans
  • Represent Transit at meetings, on committees and work groups, and at conferences and other community activities
  • Participate in staff and professional development activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
