About The Position

This individual will be trained to perform all the tasks and responsibilities of a Superintendent. Head up the operation of the assigned department safely, efficiently, and effectively. This individual will be responsible for investigating incidents, enhancing processes, and developing processes and procedures to drive continuous improvement. The position will play a pivotal role in ensuring operational excellence and delivering high-quality street castings and access covers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes safety awareness, accident prevention, and employee involvement in maintaining a safe work environment. Ensures employees understand the organization’s safety expectations.
  • Promotes the company's culture, mission, vision, and core values.
  • Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve issues and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates labor requirements for completion of job assignments.
  • Establishes or adjusts work instructions to meet ISO requirements.
  • Interprets company policies to employees and enforces safety regulations.
  • Analyzes and resolves issues, assists employees in finding solutions.
  • Initiates plans and motivates employees to achieve work goals.
  • Initiates cost reduction and support team cost reduction goals.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Plans, develop, and implement new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
  • Requisition of tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations.
  • Directs the training and indoctrination of employees to enhance operational performance and familiarize them with company policies and procedures.
  • Utilize RCA methodologies such as fishbone diagrams, 5 Whys, fault tree analysis, etc., to identify root causes and recommend effective corrective actions.
  • Facilitate team collaboration and ensure alignment on corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions to prevent the recurrence of issues.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance casting quality, reduce downtime, and improve efficiency in green sand molding processes.
  • Compile detailed RCA reports, including findings, corrective actions, and recommendations, ensuring compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Present findings to leadership and provide strategic insights for process improvements.
  • Drive initiatives to reduce safety incidents and ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards in the foundry industry.
  • Performs any department-specific duties expected of an area superintendent
  • Drive organizational change creating a vision for the future, communicating it effectively, and empowering individuals to embrace new ways of working. Using a proactive approach and adaptability, focus on building buy-in at all levels of the organization. Foster a culture of innovation and provide the necessary support and resources for individuals to adapt.
