About The Position

NexGen is looking for a Superintendent to join their growing team on a Project in Compton, CA! NexGen Contracting, the self-perform arm of Gray, is based in Franklin, TN, and specializes in executing turnkey project scopes, including concrete, steel, millwright, and finishes. NexGen is fully integrated with Gray Construction and serves as a preferred subcontractor. The NexGen team is made of career, trade-specific professionals and core craftsmen with decades of experience who are dedicated to meeting our customers' unique needs. NexGen offers a wide range of self-perform services, which include supervision, administration, craft labor, materials, tools, documentation, consumables, and safety devices to successfully carry projects from start to finish.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or minimum of five years concrete related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess basic computer skills including the ability to utilize word processing, spreadsheet and email applications.
  • Energetic, self-motivated individual who enjoys a team environment, as well as a passion for collaboration and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain high safety and quality standards in accordance to company and industry standards.
  • Study specifications and blueprints to plan procedures for materials and construction on basis of starting and completion times.
  • Assemble and schedule appropriate team members (supervisory, clerical, engineering, and field workers) and sub-contractors at start of project, as well as coordinating staffing requirements throughout the project.
  • Set up construction site and procure tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.
  • Confer with and direct supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays and ensure quality.
  • Resolve complaints and grievances within work force.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications, safety measurements and the adherence to construction schedules.
  • Prepare or review reports on progress, materials used and costs, and adjust work schedules as indicated by reports.
  • Ensure that appropriate documentation and cost associate documents are completed correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Direct workers concerned with major maintenance or reconditioning projects for existing installations.
  • Responsible for the communication, implementation and enforcement of Gray's safety program on site.
