About the position

The Superintendent 2 at JE Dunn is responsible for planning, managing, and executing various aspects of assigned construction projects, ensuring timely and profitable completion. This role involves overseeing subcontractors, managing project schedules, and maintaining safety and quality standards. The Superintendent 2 will also support project closeouts and collaborate with project management to address changes and risks throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Leads all aspects of the company's safety culture and creates awareness by demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment.
  • Provides management of subcontractors and organization of the overall job and workflow.
  • Manages and oversees company staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and programs such as Safety, Quality, and EEOC for projects.
  • Develops work plans for subcontractors and self-performed work.
  • Coordinates and manages the care, custody, and control of the project site.
  • Leads various meetings including daily standup and weekly trade meetings.
  • Attends, manages, and participates in appropriate progress and/or project OAC meetings.
  • Creates, manages, changes, and implements the project's schedule as needed, in conjunction with the Project Manager.
  • Tracks and monitors project budget and costs using project management systems.
  • Communicates key project information to owners, design team, governing authorities, subcontractors, suppliers, and other departments.
  • Follows the project filing and documentation organization system, updating necessary logs and reports.
  • Evaluates progress on self-perform work and makes adjustments as needed.
  • Manages material and equipment needs for the project.
  • Supports the procurement and approval processes for materials and other costs.
  • Assists in the selection of formwork, tools, and equipment necessary for operations.
  • Manages timecard approval process to ensure accurate reporting of hours and costs.
  • Ensures quality compliance through specifications and QA/QC processes.
  • Supervises pre-punch activities and coordinates project closeouts with stakeholders.
  • Participates in project pre-planning and ongoing adjustments throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Partners with field leadership to establish staffing for assigned projects.
  • Identifies and recruits top talent for project teams.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of construction experience required.
  • 3+ years of field supervision experience required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and project management/accounting software at an intermediate level.
  • Knowledge of project processes and construction management fundamentals.
  • Ability to manage budgets and maximize profitability.

Nice-to-haves
