About The Position

The Sterile Processing Supervisor is responsible for supervising the workflow processes of decontamination, assembly, packaging, sterilization, instrumentation, storage, preparation and distribution of OR instrumentation sets in compliance with hospital policy and AAMI standards. As well as reprocessing and distribution of instrumentation for other hospital units. The Sterile Processing Supervisor will demonstrate personal and professional effectiveness; willingness to delegate job duties; train, schedule and evaluate employees and have the ability to work under stressful conditions. The Sterile Processing Supervisor will oversee the operation and troubleshooting of cleaning, disinfection and sterilization equipment. Will maintain knowledge of reprocessing standards, techniques, instrumentation and equipment through participation in professional organizations. Will interact closely with the Surgical Services, Infection Control, Risk Management and Safety departments to identify and mitigate potential patient safety issues. The Sterile Processing Supervisor will establish, approve and update the contents and procedures for the preparation of all instrument trays, ensuring the database of the instruments is maintained and accurate. As well as performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Training as a SPD or OR Tech or comparable experience required.
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • CSP experience required within the last 5 years.
  • Leadership experience required, preferably 3 years in CS.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and infection control policies.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions promptly and accurately.
  • Ability to work effectively without close supervision.

  • Ensure the database of instruments is maintained and accurate.
  • Train, schedule and evaluate employees.
