About The Position

Brooklyn Public Library has an exciting internship opportunity for currently enrolled SUNY students! Interns will gain valuable, hands-on experience with the expert, behind-the-scenes teams who oversee library operations. We invite you to apply to be a part of our exciting Summer 2025 Internship Program. Earn up to $22/hr working with teams such as Marketing, IT and Finance and learn how these professionals help BPL provide first-class library service to Brooklyn and beyond! Brooklyn Public Library is one of the nation's largest library systems and among New York City's most democratic institutions. Providing innovative library service for over 125 years, we support personal advancement, foster civic literacy, and strengthen the fabric of community among the more than 2.6 million individuals who call Brooklyn home. We are a global leader in the fight for the freedom to read through our Books Unbanned initiative, offering teens across the US access to the Library's online catalog. We provide nearly 65,000 free programs a year with writers, thinkers, artists, and educators—from around the corner and around the world. And we give patrons millions of opportunities to enjoy one of life's greatest satisfactions: the joy of a good book.

Requirements

• Must be a student currently enrolled at a participating SUNY campus
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Motivated self-starter and team player
• Experience with various computer applications (Microsoft 365, Google, etc.)

Nice To Haves

• Interest in non-profits is a plus

Responsibilities

• Learn how the department supports the work of the library
• Work collaboratively as part of the team
• Participate in projects and related tasks (i.e. writing, research, planning, reports, etc.)
• Support team members across the department
• Communicate with colleagues and other relevant stakeholders
