About The Position

To assist us in meeting our mission, Project Bread – The Walk for Hunger is seeking a temporary, part-time SUN Bucks Enrollment Assistant to join our team for the summer. Supervisor: Khara Shearrion, Senior Director of SNAP Outreach Programs Pay Range: $23-$25 per hour Schedule & Commitment: Monday through Thursday, up to 25 hours a week. This is a temporary position, starting no later than June 2nd and expected to end late August. The Role: The SUN Bucks Enrollment Assistant will work closely with the Senior Director of SNAP Outreach Programs to help families with school-aged children enroll in SUN Bucks (formerly known as Summer EBT), so they can buy healthy food all summer long. The Intern will be responsible for ensuring applications for the federal SUN Bucks program are properly received, entered, and filed, as well as providing over-the-phone assistance to clients, referring them to the FoodSource Hotline when needed. Successful candidates must have strong customer service skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in digital data entry.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to build rapport and clearly communicate information over the phone.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and meet deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail, including checking P.O. Box daily (5-7 minute walk from the office)
  • Review and transfer client information from paper applications into online state portal, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Provide over-the-phone follow-up and support to clients with incomplete applications.
  • Maintain accurate filing and storage of paper applications.
  • Prepare and mail out SUN Bucks paper applications.
  • Provide callers with general information about Project Bread’s FoodSource Hotline.
  • Support the Hotline team with additional SNAP Outreach projects and general admin tasks as needed.
