About The Position

Do you have a passion for igniting creativity and fostering cultural understanding? Elevate your summer with us as a Summer Theatre Camp Counselor at the Schaumburg Park District, where you'll guide campers aged 7 to 14 through an unforgettable journey of self-expression and discovery! We're seeking dynamic individuals who are ready to inspire, engage, and make a lasting impact on the lives of our campers. JOB SUMMARY: We are putting on a production of Shrek Kids! We are looking to fill the positions of Lighting Designer and Sound Designer for this camp. You’ll lead pre-planned activities in our theatre camps that help campers explore different skills within the world of theatre. Experience in sound and/or lighting design and operation is strongly preferred. Our counselors create a welcoming environment where campers feel comfortable trying new things and working together. They supervise campers during activities and outings to ensure their safety and collaborate with fellow counselors and camp leaders to facilitate a safe and successful camp week. Our camp counselors always lead by example when showing campers how to be respectful, inclusive, and open-minded towards people from all backgrounds.

Requirements

  • Must be enthusiastic about working with children
  • Must have the ability to help teach and supervise a wide range of activities throughout this two-week camp
  • Must be dependable, outgoing, and possess great communication skills
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a reliable means of transportation to and from the job site

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in sound and/or lighting design and operation
  • Experience in childcare or a camp setting is beneficial
  • Ideal candidates have a flexible attitude
  • Ideal candidates adapt easily to changing situations
  • Ideal candidates are ready to pitch in wherever help is needed
