About The Position

UP Education Network is a non-profit school success organization that addresses inequities in public school systems. UP provides differentiated support to historically under resourced schools through a partnership with districts and the state. Since opening its doors in 2010, UP Education Network has focused on taking the lowest-performing schools in Massachusetts and transforming those schools into exceptional learning environments. We manage two campuses in Dorchester, serving over 1,300 students in Boston Public Schools (BPS) from grades preK through 8th. Our schools operate with charter-like autonomy while our network provides comprehensive support and management that builds capacity for schools to focus deeply on students. The Summer Technology Intern will work with the Technology Team to get the technology setup at the two UP Academy schools for the start of the school year. S/he/they will report to the IT coordinator and they will be a member of the organization’s Operations Department. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a customer service-oriented environment and willing to learn new hardware and software-based skills. You will be required to travel to Boston 5x a week to perform work on-site and be able to travel between our two campuses in Dorchester during the work day.

Requirements

  • Current authorization to work in the United States – A candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment.
  • Availability from June-August for an 8- to 12-week internship.

Responsibilities

  • Manage receiving and the inventory of new technology for UP Academy locations
  • Support the classroom technology setup for UP Academy locations
  • Assist with staff laptop deployment for school start
  • Assist with Chromebook and iPad student device and cart setups
  • Assist in the creation of new user Gmail, Microsoft and other computer accounts
  • Attend weekly IT planning and strategy meetings
  • Support the Technology Team in developing and executing on summer technology projects
  • Support the UP Academies with IT ticket requests

Benefits

  • You will be paid $850 a week, paid semi-monthly.
  • You will also receive a $125 travel stipend, as well as access to relevant entry-level IT certificates (for example, Coursera/Google and Microsoft).
