About The Position

Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

Requirements

• Must be attending school full-time and returning to an academic institution
• Must be at least 15 years of age before starting employment
• Note: certain positions require the wearing of Protective Footwear (i.e. Safety Boots or Shoes) to be purchased at your cost
• You must have you own 6-inch safety boots
• All applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
• For Internal applicants, with the recent implementation of the Internal Mobility Policy, the internal recruitment process has changed for non-union roles. Candidates must be in their current role for 12 months prior to applying for another role and each applicant must be in good standing (not participating in a Performance Improvement Plan). • Experience in facility maintenance, cleaning or landscaping is preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist staff with ground, lawn and plot maintenance, general building, and equipment maintenance (e.g. painting, mowing, servicing equipment, tools, and machinery)
• Operate and maintain vehicle, equipment and assigned tools
• Perform remedial and programmed maintenance and repair
• Provide basic and specialized janitorial services
• Perform detailed cleaning of GO Transit bus exteriors, including washing, polishing, and waxing
• Clean, washing, and disinfecting interior surfaces, including luggage compartments
• Use cleaning materials, tools, and equipment such as hoses, vacuum cleaners, mops, and squeegees
• Remove and dispose of waste / garbage from interior of buses, stations, separating recyclables
