About The Position

The Kidder Creek Lawns and Irrigation Assistant is responsible for irrigating all lawns and pastures in a manner consistent with MHA’s mission, vision and values. The Kidder Creek Lawns and Irrigation Assistant is a Ministerial Support position. Ministerial Support staff serve in operational and service support roles and are not required to personally affirm Mount Hermon Association, Inc.’s (“MHA”) Christian mission, vision and beliefs. However, it is expected that staff who fill these roles – no matter their personal beliefs - respect, work in harmony with, and not undermine MHA’s Christian mission, vision and beliefs. Additionally, they are required to abide by MHA’s culture code and standards of conduct.

Requirements

  • General pasture irrigation and lawn maintenance skills.
  • Ability to evaluate and problem solve irrigation issues as they arise.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and common sense when working with equipment, around people, or fulfilling responsibilities.
  • Ability to take direction and follow through on instructions.
  • Ability to stand and move around the majority of the workday, squat, reach, lift and carry loads, and use hands and arms for repetitive motions.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and be physically able to meet the demands of various duties.
  • Ability to spend long hours outside and in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Adherence to the basic principles as expressed in MHA’s Mission, Vision, Values and Commitment statements.
  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, or valid work permit, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Water lawns and pastures as necessary to offer campers and staff an exceptional visual experience.
  • Follow watering schedules, and work within the program schedules to adequately water all lawns.
  • Check weekly to see that all grass areas are being adequately watered.
  • Complete and oversee trimming and push mowing in all lawn areas.
  • Maintain equipment as necessary to ensure they are functional and safe.
  • Move water dams and digging trenches to distribute water evenly as scheduled.
  • Remove or spray weeds and vines in the pasture areas as necessary.
  • Oversee flood irrigation of pastures.
  • Direct staff or volunteers in fulfilling specific tasks as assigned by supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
