About The Position

This serves as notice to current employees to provide information regarding Summer School 2026. Summer school hiring needs are based on student enrollment. Summer School Dates: June 22, 2026 - July 2, 2026 Monday - Friday Location : Four Heroes & Harrison Prep Hours: 7 :30am - 12:00pm Focus : Support students who receive special education services during the Extended School Year (ESY) program. Provide accommodations and modifications per students ESY IEPs. Provide individualized and specially designed instruction per students' ESY IEPs. Utilize communication devices, visual supports, and support tools. Provide supports for students to and from transportation. Under general direction of the program administrator, position responsibility includes planning, monitoring, and evaluating varied online learning experiences of students in cooperation with other staff, parents, and the public.

Requirements

  • Washington Endorsement - Early Childhood Special Education or Special Education
  • Thorough knowledge of subject areas taught
  • Attend required summer school training
  • Baccalaureate degree in Education or related field
  • Ability to develop and implement online course support
  • Ability to organize time and materials effectively
  • Ability to be flexible
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents and volunteers in a diverse environment
  • Ability to incorporate literacy and math instruction into other areas of instruction
  • Continue professional study and activity
  • Washington State Teaching Certification with appropriate endorsements
  • Successful completion of fingerprint and background check

Responsibilities

  • Support students who receive special education services during the Extended School Year (ESY) program
  • Provide accommodations and modifications per students ESY IEPs
  • Provide individualized and specially designed instruction per students' ESY IEPs
  • Utilize communication devices, visual supports, and support tools
  • Provide supports for students to and from transportation
  • Prepare student monitoring plans for online programs as needed
  • Provide individual differentiation for the learning needs of students
  • Demonstrate subject tutoring
  • Provide an educational climate based upon mutual respect, rapport, fairness, and consistency
  • Demonstrate competency in online instructional skills
  • Develop and evaluate in terms of planned goals and revise instruction as a result of the evaluation of student progress
  • Inform pupils and parent/guardians of their progress in terms of objectives set for the lesson or course of study on weekly and monthly basis
  • Interact positively with students, professional associates, and patrons of the school district
  • Meet classes, render accurate reports, perform assigned duties punctually, and respond to all online submissions in a timely manner
  • Adjust to varied situations, demands, and new instructional concepts
  • Fulfill job-related non-teaching duties
  • Handle student discipline and attendant problems
