About The Position

Wheaton Bible Church's Puente del Pueblo Ministry is hiring a Full-time Elementary Teachers at Puente Summer School in West Chicago to support students academically and in life skills during our summer program. We are hiring for grades 2nd, 4th and 5th. Schedule: Staff Training – June 8 to June 12 Program Dates – June 15 to August 7 Program Schedule – 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

Requirements

• BA in Education, Social Work, or a related field.
• A passion for working with elementary-age students.
• Classroom or group experience with children.
• Experience with and sensitivity to the needs of students from low-income, high-risk families.
• A current, valid IL driver’s license, along with a good driving record, is required.
• A commitment to Wheaton Bible Church's Statement of Mission & Faith.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience facilitating experiential or service learning is strongly preferred.
• Bilingual (Spanish/ English) strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• The Elementary Teacher is responsible for building relationships with students and facilitating learning in the summer day program.
• Duties include academic and life skills instruction, community service and recreational activities, teaching Christian education, and facilitating group work with students involving experiential learning.
• Assistance with the food bank, bus or other duties may be assigned.
• The elementary teacher is responsible for maintaining Puente’s standard of classroom behavior during program time.
• The class size averages fifteen to twenty students.
