This position is co- responsible for planning, organizing, and administering the migrant summer school program.
Requirements
Master’s Degree from an accredited institution
Current Oregon Administrative License
Minimum of three years successful experience as a classroom teacher or administrator.
Excellent skills to manage personnel and programs, communicate effectively, problem solve.
Knowledge of curriculum, federal, state and district educational policies.
Understanding of instructional best practices as they relate to English learners.
Ability to organize, coordinate and communicate information about the summer school program.
Nice To Haves
Bilingual/Bicultural in English/Spanish preferred.
Responsibilities
Collaborates with district personnel and peers in other districts for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or programs.
Participates in organizational meetings with school districts, ESD, Resources Available to Migrant Access to Services (RAMAS) and other staff.
Coordinates and leads the hiring process for summer school staff.
Coordinates summer school curriculum in consultation with appropriate members of the summer school staff, ESD staff, and Teaching and Learning.
Coordinate and provide support for bi-national teachers from Mexico (i.e. help with housing placements, transportation, etc.), if needed.
Facilitates communication and coordination among instructional staff for the purpose of meeting curriculum guidelines and ensuring that state mandates are achieved.
Monitors quality of instruction for course offerings.
Performs personnel functions (e.g. recruitment, hiring, training, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing (including substitutes), and ensuring that program objectives are achieved within budget.
Prepares the summer school calendar and schedule.
Assumes responsibility for registration and assignment of students.
Requisitions and inventories classroom equipment, supplies, and textbooks.
Supervises staff and students and addresses questions and/or concerns of staff, students, and parents.
Responsible for student attendance and submission of enrollment and attendance reports as required.
Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Follows and supports ESD policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as may be assigned to support the success of the agency.
