Summer School Classroom Aides at various locations are needed throughout the region. Program dates vary by location and take place during July and August. Program Locations Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES Cooperative Summer School programs include: Ontario County Academy (Grades 9–12, Midlakes) Yates County MS/HS (Grades 7–12, Penn Yan Academy) Newark/Lyons High (Grades 9–12, Newark HS) Seneca-East Wayne County High School (Grades 9–12, Waterloo HS) Seneca-East Wayne County Middle School (Grades 6–8, Mynderse Academy) Why This Job is For You You enjoy working with students and supporting their growth You’re looking for a great entry-level opportunity (ideal for career starters, retirees, or career changers) You adapt easily to different classroom environments and jump in where needed You value teamwork and collaboration with school staff
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Ability to stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, and keep up with active students
- Must obtain and pass a background check through NYSED
- Bring positive energy, reliability, and enthusiasm every day
Responsibilities
- Support instruction under the direction of the certified teacher
- Assist with lessons, activities, and classroom materials preparation
- Work with small groups or individual students to reinforce learning
- Provide support to students by adapting materials and approaches
- Help maintain a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment
- Encourage positive behavior and student engagement
- Supervise students during instructional periods and transitions
- Ensure students feel safe, supported, and motivated to learn
