About The Position

The Surgery Clinical Research Summer Internship offers students the opportunity to gain valuable experience in clinical research within the Department of Surgery. The internship provides hands-on exposure to breast surgery, oncology, and related clinical research fields, allowing interns to work alongside experienced professionals in a hospital or clinical setting. Interns will be mentored by faculty and staff involved in clinical trials, outcomes research, and other studies aimed at improving surgical treatments and practices, as well as understanding diseases and patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Must be an undergraduate student.
  • Strong interest in clinical research, breast surgery, and oncology.
  • No prior research experience required, but a passion for learning and contributing to research is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in research projects as assigned
  • Attend and participate in research team meetings
  • Collect and analyze data
  • Perform literature reviews to support research efforts
  • Assist in the writing of research reports, including abstracts and manuscripts.
  • Data analysis, depending on the specific mentor's research program
