About The Position

The City of Emeryville/Management of Emeryville Services Authority (MESA) invites candidates to apply for the position of Summer Recreation Leader. This position is temporary, seasonal, at-will, and part-time, working fewer than 950 hours per fiscal year and is not eligible for City/MESA benefits. The Summer Camp Recreation Leader will be a member of a dynamic team in the Youth and Adult Services Division and will be responsible for delivering creative, innovative, and enriching summer camp programs for youth in the Emeryville community.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Experience working in a structured or supervised recreational program and/or college level training in Recreation, Physical Education, Education, or a related field is desirable.
• A valid California Driver's License, with a satisfactory driving record may be required.
• A valid certification in CPR/AED/First Aid from the American Red Cross is required upon hire.

• Knowledgeable of the philosophy, methods, and techniques utilized in organized recreation.
• Knowledgeable of recreational and program activities suitable for clientele; age-appropriate activities and programs.
• Able to plan, organize, implement, schedule, and conduct a variety of recreation programs and activities for clients.
• Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Able to establish and maintain effective working relations with those contacted in the course of work.

Responsibilities

• Lead various recreation activities for children enrolled in summer camp.
• Ensure group safety and complete activities according to the camp schedule.
• Complete required program paperwork.
• Meet professional standards around attendance, uniform, and communication.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Benefits

• Compensation of $18.67 to $28.34 per hour, based on experience.
