About The Position

Under the general direction of the Parks and Recreation Director, assists with the organization of recreation activities for youth. Employee performs a variety of entry level and general administrative duties as needed to coordinate the day-to-day operation of one or more city recreation programs.

Requirements

  • Graduation Diploma from high school or equivalent such as GED
  • One (1) year of experience relating to recreation or community involvement activity or the combination of education and experience
  • A valid New Mexico’s driver’s license required
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Attention to maintenance detail a must
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and other City Personnel and the public
  • Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule with minimal supervision
  • Able to pass a drug and alcohol test
  • Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Follows personnel policies and procedures as set forth by the City of Belen
  • Plans and organizes recreation activities for youth including field trips, sports, and other events as assigned
  • Communicate plans, policies, and procedures to participants
  • Collect fees when necessary for certain recreational activities
  • Performs varied janitorial duties within recreation building, it’s equipment and surroundings
  • Performs a variety of recreational, clerical and maintenance duties to maintain the Recreation Center
  • May supervise children consumers, support personnel, or other part-time or temporary staff as assigned
  • May recommend department improvements
  • Collects payments and keeps monetary records for the department
  • Assists with coordination and tracking facility reservations and collections
  • Provides input to department budgetary planning
  • Monitors safety regulation adherence in the center
  • Accepts and documents public complaints as well as provide quality customer service
  • Assists with City functions
  • Scheduled for on call on off-hours
  • Provides security services for City functions
  • Monitor public emergency medical needs and make appropriate calls for care
  • Responsible for opening and locking facility
  • Available and flexible hours, days and holidays
  • Other duties as assigned.
