About The Position

Baltimore Lab School seeks a full-time Classroom Teacher for the Summer 2025 Program. BLS Summer Staff hours are from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Summer school runs from July 1st through July 25th (closed July 4th for the holiday). Once a week, staff will supervise students on a field trip somewhere fun, like swimming at an aquatic center! The other four days each week, students will receive instruction. Classroom teachers plan and teach lessons in either reading, writing, math, or executive functioning skills to a small group of students (no more than 7 with an instructional assistant) for 5 class periods. The teacher will have at least 1 planning period during the day. There is 1 available Classroom Teacher position.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid teacher's certificate in the area of General Special Education 1-8, or in another area with eligibility to add a General Special Education endorsement.
• In the process of having an application for certification reviewed by the Maryland State Department of Education.
• Working knowledge and implementation of IEPs.

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach lessons in reading, writing, math, or executive functioning skills.
• Supervise students on a weekly field trip.
• Instruct a small group of students (no more than 7) with the help of an instructional assistant.
• Manage classroom activities and ensure a positive learning environment.
• Prepare for and conduct 5 class periods each day.
