About The Position

The YMCA of Dane County is seeking a professional, detailed-oriented Preschool Lead Teacher for a seasonal summer position from May/June to August. This role involves helping with summer activities in the preschool department. The YMCA is recognized for its commitment to families and community, providing high-quality, progressive early childhood education. The ideal candidate will foster achievement, encourage belonging, act as a positive role model for children and staff, and develop and implement age-appropriate activities.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age
High School diploma or equivalent
Lead Teacher classification recognized by Wisconsin State Licensing requirements.
Knowledge of general child growth and development, learning, and developmentally appropriate activities for children required.
Requires ability to effectively interact with, lead, and motivate members who have a variety of abilities and needs.
Experience leading a classroom and creating educational lesson plans

Responsibilities

Create fun and interactive learning experiences while serving as mentors to fellow Teachers.
Ensure the daily care of every child by following all licensing guidelines and company standards.
Communicate directly with parents and prospective parents to achieve success for the child.
Maintains proper records/department files.
Trains, provides guidance to and directs preschool assistant teachers and volunteers as needed.
Manages emergencies, unusual circumstances and behavior.
Creates a supportive and uplifting work environment.
