About The Position

Performs day to day activities for the general maintenance of the county parks, grounds, buildings, trails, and landscaped areas.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent (GED) and a minimum of 18 years of age at the time of employment.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information to customers, clients, park personnel and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100' s.
• Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Valid Minnesota Class D driver’s license.
• Ability to operate and maintain equipment required to perform assigned tasks, including tractors, chain saws, lawn mowers, weed whips, hand and power tools, and other equipment, in a safe, efficient manner.

Nice To Haves

• Previous park maintenance experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Assist in keeping park facilities, grounds, buildings, campgrounds, and trails neat, clean, and safe.
• Assist with diseased and hazardous tree removal, tree trimming and cutting and clearing of brush and weeds.
• Assist in the construction, repair and maintenance of park facilities, buildings, campgrounds, and trails and landscaped areas.
• Performs basic landscape work including planting and maintaining of trees, shrubs, flowers and grass.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
