About The Position

The Nursing Assistant assists in patient care throughout the Operating Room. The Nursing Student will assist in room turn over, positioning of patients to and from stretcher to OR table and safe handling of specimens to Laboratory in timely manner. Needs to understand the patient's condition to ensure their care and safety. Compensation Pay Range: $18.58 - $25.01

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate nursing program.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately.
  • Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma/GED preferred.
  • Previous Nursing Assistant or equivalent experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Care - Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to provide direct/non-direct care to patients under the direct supervision of licensed personnel
  • Professional Development - Maintains current knowledge/certification.
  • Maintains BLS certification.
  • Displays the ability to accept and respond appropriately to feedback and recommendations for change.
  • Demonstrates professional working relationships with colleagues from all disciplines to promote a positive/encouraging workplace.
  • Accountable for being informed about changes in hospital policy and procedure.
  • Completes all hospital and unit based competencies prior to deadlines.

  • Understands individual role/responsibilities in the event of hospital codes and emergency preparedness.
  • Complies with the current CDC hand hygiene guidelines through proper handwashing. Adheres to universal precautions, makes appropriate use of personal protective equipment at all times and appropriately disposes of hazardous materials. Maintains awareness of MSDS sheets and how to access.
  • Demonstrates proper body mechanics for all functions and use of patient lifts as needed.
