Summer Music Camp Assistant Teacher
About The Position
Musicologie Anderson is seeking an instructor to serve as an Assistant Teacher for any of its upcoming summer camps at its studio this July. The person hired for the position should be a passionate educator who enjoys sharing the joy of music with young minds while being both patient and energetic. Camp dates and hours: Mini Musicians Camp: Monday June 22 thru Friday June 26, from 9am to 12pm each day Rock Band Bootcamp: Monday July 13 thru Friday July 17, from 9am to 2:30pm each day Music Explorers Camp: Monday July 27 thru Friday July 31, from 9am to 2:30pm each day The Mini Musicians Summer Camp is designed for young children ages 4 to 6 who are new to music, letting them experience the joy of music through rhythm games, simple improvisation, instrument exploration, nature sounds, and musical movement. Music Explorers Camp is designed for kids ages 7 to 10 with or without any prior music experience, and will guide them through different types of music while incorporating creative projects that encourage collaboration and self-expression. And our Rock Band Bootcamp is meant for students ages 11 to 15 who already have music experience, giving them a chance to learn about rock music and jam like a band. As a Summer Camp Assistant Teacher, you will play a crucial role in creating a fun and engaging learning environment for our young campers. You will support the Lead Teacher in running the camp activities, facilitating group sessions, and assisting with various musical projects and workshops.
Requirements
- Passionate about music and have a genuine interest in working with elementary-aged children.
- Enthusiastic, patient, and able to connect with campers on a personal level to create a nurturing and supportive environment.
- Eager to learn and contribute, with a proactive attitude and a willingness to be part of a dynamic team.
- Reliable, responsible, and capable of handling the daily activities of a vibrant summer camp.
- Excellent communication skills, both with children and fellow team members.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience working with children in a music-related or educational setting is a plus, but not mandatory.
- Basic knowledge of musical instruments, music theory, or experience in playing a musical instrument is beneficial.
- A background in music education, childcare, or a related field is welcome, but not required.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Lead Teacher(s) to guide campers in their musical journeys and foster a love for music exploration.
- Assist in organizing activities, games, and musical exercises that encourage teamwork and creativity among the campers.
- Help with setup and cleanup, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable camp experience for everyone.
- Be a positive role model, inspiring campers to express themselves through music and build their self-confidence.
