Summer Math Tutor / Instructor
About The Position
The Mathnasium Math Learning Centers of Madison (www.mathnasium.com/madisonwest and www.mathnasium.com/sunprairie) are looking for Math Tutors for the 2026 Summer break (May 11 thru August 29th). Mathnasium is a national after school math only learning center. Tutoring is done on site at one of our three Madison area Learning Centers. Our west side Center is located at 701 N High Point Rd. Madison, our east side location is located at 5546 Eastpark Blv., Madison and we have a third location in Verona at 220 Keenan Ct., Verona.. The west side Center is on the Madison bus route and is a 12 minute drive from campus. The east side location is a 15 minute drive from campus and Verona is a 17 minute drive from campus. Tutors should have a strong background in math and or teaching/tutoring.....mathematics, engineering, chemistry and or education majors are preferred Mathnasium works with students from the 1st thru 12th grades. Student's math skills are widely varied, ranging from a couple of years behind grade level to advanced students working several years above grade level. Instructors should enjoy working with being around children/students. Mathnasium's summer students work from a planned, customized Mathnasium curriculum generated from the results of the student's Mathnasium Assessment. Tutors' efforts are supported by individualized Mathnasium lesson plans for each student. Our summer instruction hours are Mondays thru Fridays, 9:30am to noon and 3:00pm to 7:00 pm. Tutor work scheduling is flexibe and consistent. Ideal candidates should be able to work six or more hours per week. Tutors can choose a schedule that works for them through the summer. The Madison Centers have grown dramatically over the last year. There are two primary reasons for our growth; 1) our system works, Mathnasium students demonstrably improve their math skills, 2) we have outstanding tutors. The majority of these tutors are current UW Madison students. We are interested in hiring tutors that have the flexibility and maturity to simultaneously manage their studies, social activities and a serious part-time job Thank you for your interest.
Requirements
- Strong math and or education background and interest in teaching the subject to younger students.
- Desire and skill to work with children, grades 1-12.
