About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance and Housekeeping Supervisor, the Summer Maintenance staff members will maintain a safe, professional, respectful, and positive atmosphere for our members and guests. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The length of this position runs approximately 10 weeks from May through August from 11 am through 3 pm. OUR CULTURE: Our mission and core values are brought to life by our culture. Requirements

  • Six months or more related experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
  • Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals as well as their safe and efficient uses.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of the community, social, and economic segments of the community.
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills
  • Must be able to work throughout the duration of the summer camp program

Responsibilities

  • This position primarily works in the skate center during the summer campers’ lunch hours
  • Duties include, but are not limited to, window washing, trash removal, moving and cleaning tables, ensuring the skate center floor is clean and free of debris, and food cleanup including dumping unfinished food and milk.
  • Records and reports all needed repairs and repairs as directed
  • Ensures YMCA building and property are secure during shift and reports incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and pass a pre-employment physical
  • All other duties as assigned.
