About The Position
More than 40+ lifeguards are employed across the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center and the Recreational Pool during the summer. In order to apply, you must hold and/or obtain a current lifeguard certification. We will accept certification from American Red Cross, Ellis and Associates, STARGUARD, and YMCA Lifeguard. All newly hired lifeguards are required to complete a skills assessment which verifies that their skills are proficient according to American Red Cross lifeguard standards (R.24). If you have not been lifeguard certified before, we do offer opportunities to become certified prior to starting employment with us. We offer low-cost lifeguard certification ($50) to eligible applicants who pass the interview and complete the required swim assessment. All employees are required to maintain an active lifeguard certification.
